Raster tools

October 20, 2019, version 3.0.0

This is a major upgrade. Version 3 of the tools can read project-files from all previous versions, but once projects have been edited in version 3, they can no longer be used in previous versions. We recommend that you upgrade to the latest version anyway, because it contains new functions and bug fixes.

  • Node names are now case insensitive. This means that "internal cable" and "Internal Cable" share the same name, and therefore form a node class. While upgrading from previous versions compatibility issues will be solved automatically, and you will receive a warning in case of changes to your project.
  • The meaning and use of templates has changed. The vulnerabilities in a checklist window are now applied automatically to all nodes of that type. When you add or remove vulnerabilities to a checklist window, all existing nodes will be modified accordingly. The opposite applies as well: when you rename a vulnerability in the vulnerability assessment window, the change is applied to all other nodes as well as the checklist window. Previously the checklist window only determined the initial list of vulnerabilities of new nodes.
  • The common cause failures window has been split. Components and clusters of the selected vulnerability now appear on the right-hand side of the window. This creates more work space, and makes the scrollbars easier to use.
  • Search results in the "Find nodes" window have improved. Click one of the search results, and the application will jump to the corresponding diagram, and marks the location of the node using a frame.
  • An additional label has been added, for projects that use many labels.
  • Intranet version: the option to change the visual style has been removed.
  • The analysis tool "Single failures by level" is now "Assessments by level", and now contains all assessments of single failures and common cause failures.
  • Update of software libraries, and several smaller improvements and fixes.

November 27, 2018, version 2.2.1

This minor update only contains improvements to the intranet version.

  • Solved an issue when merging projects.
  • Changes to project details were not always saved to the intranet server.
  • Improved the placement op popup windows.

May 21, 2018, version 2.2.0

  • The manual (version 2.1) has been expanded with advice on using the method and the tools.
  • The help screen for Frequency assessments includes a calculator tool.
  • Hints to the impact assessments for clusters. The impact of a vulnerability cluster should be at least as serious as the most serious component in that cluster. For example, if the failure of some component has impact High, the impact of the failure of that component together with other components cannot drop to Medium.
  • The Analysis screen for single failures shows a histogram.
  • Several keyboard shortcuts added (section 8.7 of the manual).
  • Links for options have been replace by buttons.
  • Low-level libraries have been updated to their latest versions.
  • Several smaller improvements and fixes.
  • The standalone programme disables hardware acceleration, for maximum compatibility. This can be enabled if desired, by editing the preferences file.
    • for MacOS: Library/Application Support/Raster/prefs.json
    • for Windows: c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Raster\prefs.json

February 10, 2018, version 2.1.0

  • Notification of tool updates. The standalone tool will check daily with this website whether a newer version of the tool is available.
  • Fix UI difficulties when connecting nodes. It should be easier to connect nodes now.
  • Enforce type-dependent limits when connecting nodes. E.g. a wired link can be connected to at most two other nodes ("a cable has exactly two ends").
  • After importing/opening a project, a thorough check is done on its correctness.
  • Several minor improvements and bug fixes.

January 30, 2018, update 2.0.1
Fix for a condition that could lead to data loss. This would happen when adding a vulnerability to a node class marked as Single.

November 2017
Version 2.0 is a major change: there are now standalone programmes for MacOS and Windows, in addition to the existing intranet version. The standaline tools edit local project files, and do not support online collaboration on projects.

  • Improved check whether the application is used in two tabs of the same web browser. A warning is shown, to prevent data loss.
  • The tree structure is now shown using lines in Common Cause Failure View.
  • Made tool more robust when trying to import corrupted projects.
  • The project name now shows in the page title.
  • Several minor improvements and bug fixes.

July 2015
Several improvements to the management of clusters. For projects containing many components the editing of clusters will be much easier.

  • Nodes can be selected, and dragged and dropped collectively.
  • Nodes and clusters now have a popup menu. Use the menu to move components, or to create or remove clusters.
  • Clusters can be expanded and collapsed.
  • Find panel now searches and shows suffixes.

June 2015

  • In the Diagrams and Single Failures screens, the service tabs at the bottom can now be dragged into the desired order.
  • The option 'Move freely' or 'Snap to grid' has been removed. Nodes now always line up.
  • Maintain current service when reloading the page, or when updating a shared project when it was changed on the server.
  • Several minor improvements and bug fixes.

May 2015

  • When more than one group is used (for access control), then swapping between groups now hides shared projects and will not give error messages.
  • Connections are now deleted (nodes are disconnected) with a single click on the disconnect icon (the circled X). This used to require a double click.
  • Fixes when simultaneously working on a project from MSIE browsers.

February 2015

  • Several minor improvements and bug fixes.

December 2015
This version mostly contains improvements for working with node classes.

  • A new analysis tool is available: Longlist.
  • Rename all nodes in the node class collectively.
  • Change the suffix from 'a', 'b', 'c' to something more meaningful.

Versions from 2014 and earlier were internal test versions, not suitable for general use.
